THz-ESRによる磁気励起の研究
テラヘルツ光は光と電波の中間の周波数をもつ電磁波であり、そのエネルギーは磁気励起をはじめとした様々な物質中の素励起やダイナミックスのエネルギーに相当します。
テラヘルツESRは、従来のESRに比べて格段に高分解能で、大きなゼロ磁場分裂や速い緩和をもつ磁性イオンへの応用が可能なため電子スピンのダイナミックス研究の有力な手段です。
1 THzでは電子スピンの共鳴磁場は約40 テスラにも達し、パルス超強磁場との組み合わせが必要となります。

THz-ESR Study on Magentic Excitations
THz wave is located between electromagnetic wave and photon regimes.
Many of excitations in matters such as magnetic excitation, phonon and etc. are in the THz energy range.
THz ESR is extremely high resolution compared to conventional microwave ESR and is powerful to capture the signals of fast relaxing magnetic ions and of large zero field splitting.
The energy of 1 THz wave is equivalent to the Zeeman energy at 40 T and thus use of pulse magnetic fields is essential for THz-ESR.
